Nathaniel Mata, executive director /the enthusiast

Favorite pair of skates: Powerslide One Zoom 100

Nathaniel grew up a hockey fan and has been sharing the joy of the sport his entire life. He and JP and Rafe founded this group in hopes to get more rink time and get more people in the community playing hockey

He also skates on inline skates for exercise and as a way to get outside when it’s not too hot.

Juan Pablo Lopez, vice president/the professor

Favorite pair of skates: CCM Jetspeed FT2

JP is a veteran hockey player both on ice and inline. Born in Mexico City he has made lifelong connections in the sport on both sides of the border and all over Texas. He is a great mentor in the sport and in skating. Professionally, Lopez teaches robotics in the Mid Valley.

Favorite pair of skates: Xootr scooter

Layla is a new hockey fan with a huge heart for her community. She is pursuing epidemiology and knows that promoting fun, physical activities at low-cost is a big need in the Valley’s pursuit of a healthier community.

Favorite pair of skates: Bauer Prodigy

Jackie is very active in the community and has grown to love the sport of hockey. She’s a big fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and is coming into her own as a skater and hockey player herself. She hopes to see more women and girls getting into hockey as skating gains popularity in the RGV.
